PXIe-1004A Distribution Amplifier

The PXIe-1004A is a single slot PXI based broadband distribution amplifier that has a single input and 4 copied output channels. All channel connectors are female SMA type. The input and all output channels are AC coupled with nominal terminal impedance of 50Ω. The device operates from 1MHz to 500MHz with frequency flatness response less than 1dB over 200 MHz Bandwidth. The output channel-to-channel signal isolation is better than 60 dB at 100 MHz. The gain of each amplifier is nominally 0 dB. Input power is optimized at 10 dBm and maximum input power is typically 13 dBm. Each output is able of providing a 0.707 Vrms (10 dBm) sine wave into a 50Ω load.

By using low flicker noise amplifiers and active filtering of supply rails the device residual phase noise is ultra-low. For signals greater than 10 dBm, the phase noise floor is typically better than -167dBc/Hz. Furthermore, careful analog design enhances its high signal-to-noise dynamic range. Having low residual phase noise and high dynamic range ensures that the input signal integrity is not compromised as it is copied and distributed.

Each output has a red LED that turns on to indicate a fault condition absence or low output power signal. The PWR LED indicates that DC power is available, while the Signal LED turns green when the input signal level is at or above sufficient amplitude, and turns red when the input signal exceeds the maximum recommended input power. These LED status maybe queried by the host computer.

The output channel-to-channel signal isolation is better than 60 dB at 100 MHz. The gain of each amplifier is nominally 0 dB. Input power is optimized at 7 dBm and maximum input power is 13 dBm. Each output is able of providing a 0.707 Vrms (10 dBm) sine wave into a 50Ω load.
